Book Review: The Wrath of Darth Maul (Legends)

There are moments in life that offer reflection. In high school I took the leap to volunteer as a counselor in the Outdoor School program to teach science, and be responsible for a select number of middle schoolers for 5 days (last time I checked the program was cut to three days). As an introvert with a social anxiety problem, I struggled to get through my duties. During my first time as a counselor I did have one of counselor high schooler, and together we did okay at our job. It was a total one head of a snake not talking to the other.

On July 18, 2017 I asked the Fangirls Going Rogue Facebook chat if I should I read Bloodline or Rebel Rising as my first Star Wars book.  I was, overwhelmingly, told to read Lost Stars by Claudia Gray. I was hooked after reading the summary on the back page. I remember thinking that it was (and honestly it still is) the best book ever. Romance. Action. Star Wars.

"Popular" Academy Award

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently announced a new category, Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film. The details of qualifying for the award will be spelled out later. Most reaction on the internet seems to be negative and convey this as a way to give awards to big blockbuster “superhero” movies. Many believe the only reason the Academy created the category was to combat declining television ratings.

Book Review - Thrawn: Alliances

Many years ago, when I was working my first job at a pizza restaurant, one of my duties was to place door hangers door to door throughout various nearby neighborhoods to advertise our company. The Princess Diarist & Episode IX

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement mixed with all sorts of other emotions at the news of the cast announcement for Episode IX of Star Wars.  The death of Carrie Fisher a year and a half ago hit me more than the news of any celebrity death before; it came at a time when we as Star Wars fans were getting to experience more of the Carrie Fisher we know and love as she reprised her role as Princess Leia.
